Painting is the place I first found my voice. I often push and pull with my paintings, I will spend several months working on creating images based on reference, then delve into creating based on imagination and memory. I actively seek areas that need improvement and try to strengthen areas of weakness. For me painting is ultimately a way of creating something new, something surreal, something amplified or distorted. Photography exists to capture things as they are, painting exists to create things that don't exist yet.
